Defending the Motherland

This is a monument dedicated to fallen heroes from the WWI. Its location is near the train station in the city of Predeal, Romania - one of the busiest touristic resorts from that country.
The original shot had a clear sky, and I decided to replace it with another one, more dramatic. I tried to give it a night-shot look (and I guess it worked), but both shots were taken during the day.

  13. Len, it's a huge difference between fighting on your own land against the invaders that want to conquer all you've got, and those who go fighting faraway from their home under the motto "Fighting for our freedom"...

    what side ?
    against Russia or with it

  16. RO fought against Axis... they invaded Romania, not Russia... Russia did it later, in '44, when they had stolen some land too... about 1/3...
